Indicators are designed to determine the presence of alternating voltage with a frequency of 50 Hz when directly touching current-carrying parts (contacts).
The presence of voltage is determined by:
– with a single-pole pointer ЭИ0204 – by touching the tip contact to the current-carrying part, while touching the contact on the end of the case with your finger;
– with a two-pole indicator ЭИ0205 – by touching the tip contacts to the current-carrying parts, between which the presence of voltage is determined.
The glow of the HV indicator indicates the presence of voltage.
It is possible to use the ЭИ0204 indicator to determine the location of a wire under a nominal voltage of 220 V with a frequency of 50 Hz, located under plaster or a similar non-metallic coating. In this case, the operation of the pointer depends on the coating material and its thickness. To determine the location of the wire, any location of the pointer in space relative to the plane of the coating is possible. The location of the wire can be determined by drawing a perpendicular from the limiting ring of the pointer to the plane of the coating at the greatest distance of the trigger (lighting of the SP indicator) of the pointer from the plane of the coating.
Technical characteristics
Voltage detection ranges: ЭИ0204 – (90…250) V; ЭИ0205 – (90…750) V.
The ЭИ0204 indicator has an additional function: determining the presence of voltage in a hidden (insulated) conductor with a nominal voltage of 220 V at a frequency of 50 Hz by a non-contact method.
The pointer ЭИ0204 is unipolar, located in one housing and has two contacts: a tip contact and a contact on the end of the housing. The electrical circuit has elements of light indication, elements of determining the phase voltage and determining the presence of voltage in the hidden (insulated) conductor by the non-contact method. The rated supply voltage of the circuit when determining the presence of voltage in the hidden (insulated) conductor is 3 V (elements of type AG13 or similar). Current consumption is no more than 10 mA.
The pointer ЭИ0205 is bipolar, located in two housings connected by a flexible wire, and has two tip contacts: one on each housing. The electrical circuit has an element of light indication and its control elements.
Indicators have an intermittent light indication of the presence of voltage (the frequency of the light indication depends on the amount of voltage). The indication of the presence of voltage in the hidden (insulated) conductor of the ЭИ0204 pointer is a continuous light.
Indicator housings are made of insulating material and have stops on the side of the tip contacts with a height of 3 mm.
The operation of the ЭИ0204 indicator is based on the flow of capacitive current through the elements of the indicator circuit and the human body when the operator’s hand touches the contact on the end part of the body, and the tip contact – with the current-carrying part that is under voltage.
Determining the presence of voltage in a hidden (insulated) conductor by a non-contact method is based on the conversion of an alternating electromagnetic field emitted by the conductor into a light signal.
The operation of the ЭИ0205 indicator is based on the flow of active current through the elements of the circuit when the tip contacts touch the current-carrying parts, between which the presence of voltage is determined.
Weight of pointers, no more:
– ЭИ0204 – 50 g (without chemical power sources);
– ЭИ0205 – 80 g.
Overall dimensions of pointers:
– ЭИ0204 – 180 mm x 25 mm x 30 mm;
– ЭИ0205-1500 mm x25 mm x30 mm.
The average service life of pointers is at least 5 years.
